Petra A'Huille is the keyohwhuduchun of the Maiyoo Keyoh,
the hereditary chief who holds and speaks for the territory under Dakelh law. Her authority is customary and unextinguished. It does not come from the Society, and it is not bound by it.
The Maiyoo Keyoh Society exists to serve that authority. It is the administrative body that carries out the keyohwhuduchun's direction, the day-to-day work of stewardship, governance, and the affairs of the Keyoh. Under the Society's bylaws she holds a permanent, hereditary seat and authorizes the Society's decisions. The Society answers to her, not the other way around.
Petra inherited the title from her mother, the late Sally A'Huille. On December 3, 2022, she declared the repatriation of the Hahul headdress, the Tsik'usdzai, the physical deed to the territory, held by her great-great-grandfather George A'Huille. Its legal transfer from the Royal Ontario Museum has yet to follow.
