HerStory
A first-year university student, and a future lawyer deeply grounded in the intergenerational responsibilities of her Keyoh, raised close to her customary lands in the midst of strong Dakelh leadership, particularly the teachings and example of strong tséke (women) who carry law, care, and accountability.
Mikoh understands that leadership is lived through relationships, responsibility, and service. Her upbringing instilled in her the Dakelh principle that law is carried through witnessing, relational accountability, and stewardship of land and people, and that these responsibilities are sustained through the Snadneke, the interwoven family branches whose authority and care for the Keyoh are recognized under Dakelh legal order.
This foundation shapes her commitment to studying law as a means to uphold Indigenous legal orders within and alongside colonial systems, thereby protecting land, rights, and legal traditions for future generations. It also brings humility, respect for protocol, and continuity of ancestral teachings to her role as Director.
