Jim Munroe is the President and CEO of the Maiyoo Keyoh Society, an organization established to defend aboriginal rights and title
HiStory
He serves as the spokesman for Petra A'Huille, the Keyohwhuduchun (hereditary Chief) of the Maiyoo Keyoh ancestral territory, and is the primary contact and negotiator for consultation and accommodation on proposed developments within the territory.
With over 20 years of experience, Jim has commissioned an ecosystem stewardship plan, completed a forest carbon market Pre-design Document, and facilitated various land use and occupancy studies. His work includes ethnohistorical reports, serving as secretary to the Keyoh Huwunline organization, and contributing to PhD theses on indigenous cross-cultural communication and the social impacts of forestry road development. Jim also serves on the First Nations Council of Advisors for UBC Forestry Faculty and has developed land use plans for numerous Keyohs. He has been a guest speaker at various post-secondary institutions and conferences, advocating for aboriginal rights and sustainable development.
Jim's dedication and visionary approach have earned him respect and recognition within the community and beyond. His work continues to inspire and empower future generations.
