On August 20, 2020, we mourned the passing of Keyohwuduchun Sally A’Huille (also known as Sally Sam), a courageous and principled leader who dedicated her life to defending Maiyoo Keyoh. Sally inherited the title from her father, Pius A’Huille, and led with strength and wisdom, organizing blockades and negotiations to resist industrial encroachment and preserve the land, wildlife, and waters of the Keyoh.

Before her passing, Sally named her youngest daughter, Petra A’Huille (formerly Petra Munroe), as her successor. Petra now carries the hereditary title and responsibilities of Keyohwuduchun, continuing the legacy entrusted to her by her mother.

On August 21, 2020, notices of this transition were formally sent to provincial and federal ministries, non-governmental organizations, and fellow Keyoh Holders.
