Formal Recognition of the Current Keyohwuduchun

Keyohwhuduchun Petra A'Huille

Petra A'Huille was recognized as keyohwhuduchun by the late Sally A'Huille before Sally's passing in 2020. On December 3, 2022, that title was publicly witnessed in an internationally webcast ceremony — with witnesses including the Hon. Murray Sinclair, Satsan (Herb George), and roughly twelve keyohwhuduchun, who gave their consent. This historic event affirmed the continuation of an unbroken line of leadership that reflects the strength and resilience of Dakelh law and Keyoh governance.

The lineage of the Maiyoo Keyohwhuduchun includes:

• Sidoman Hahul (George A’Huille) – 1826-c. 1890

• Kumdiel (Jimmy A’Huille) – 1856–1918

• Pious Benoit A’Huille – 1878–1935

• Pius A’Huille – 1905–1973

• Sally A’Huille (Sally Sam) – until 2020

• Petra A’Huille – present
